Since I was a kid this was always the hike I needed to do. Rundle is the most iconic mountain in the town of Banff.
With a nice long lunch break to take in the view the hike took approximately 10 hours with a distance of 14km. The trail begins at the Fairmont Golf course where you spend a a couple hours in the tree line enjoying mellow switch backs. Once you get out of the tree line you begin to scramble up. The scramble is quite the mind game. An hour passes and you feel as though you haven't made any distance. The final stretch for that reason can be pretty grunt worthy. HOWEVER! As soon as you reach the peak and you look back to take in the view, you immediately forget what you just went through.
I always look up at this mountain and now I finally get to see how it looks down at me
